Folk applied art studio "Bauska"
The Folk Applied Art Studio "Bauska" is a department of the Bauska Museum. Its aim is to preserve, promote, revive, practice, strengthen and transmit to future generations the intangible cultural heritage. Also to encourage the inheritance, research and creative development of traditional cultural values based on Latvian folk applied art. As well as, to keep alive the tradition and skill of textile making, respecting the heritage that has been preserved over the centuries and the ability to apply this knowledge in modern materials.
About the studio
TLMS "Bauska" organises folk applied art exhibitions, cooperates with other folk applied art collectives, participates in exhibitions and events organized by the Latvian National Centre of Culture, which promote the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, as well as participates in activities relevant to the studio's theme in events and exhibitions organized by Bauska Museum, Bauska Municipality and other events in Latvia and abroad.
TLMS "Bauska" brings together people of different ages and professions who are interested in learning, researching and making tradition-based objects for their own pleasure, participate in the preservation of cultural heritage - learning, practicing and passing on the skills of applied folk art crafts, form a community of interests, fill their free time and develop their creative abilities.
