Museum of Latvian poet Vilis Plūdons

The museum' s activities are aimed at preserving and promoting the personal legacy of the Latvian poet Vilis Pludons. The museum's exhibitions and programmes tell the story of the poet's life and his contribution to Latvian literature.

The museum complex, which historically developed as an old farm, consists of a residential building, a terraced barn, a barn, a granary, a sauna and a cellar.

The museum complex of Vilis Pludons' birthplace "Lejenieki" is a cultural monument of national importance.

EXPOSITIONS

The life and work of Latvian poet Vilis Pludons

The exhibition in the residential building of the museum complex tells the story of the poet's life in connection with his family home. The eight rooms of the Lejenieki house, objects from the 1920s and 1930s, which describe the furnishings of the rooms at the time of Plūdons' life. The museum's relics - a few items that belonged to the poet himself - are a particular highlight. The exhibition contains information about the life of the poet, his family, literary and social activities.

The farm of Lejenieki

The exhibition in the barn and the stable (cart house) of the Vilis Pludons Museum complex, tells about traditional agricultural work during the 1920s-1930s. The poet Vilis Plūdons owned a farm in Lejenieki, which was managed by hired rentiers or grain farmers.

The exhibition provides information about the history of Lejenieki Farm, fragments of rentiers contracts, tools and old photographs of farm work.

A special atmosphere is created by the poetic lines of Vilis Pludons, which are dedicated to the natural scenes in the Lejenieki area.
